This is a short film from the Ocean Avenue Film Festival. Lots of lovely people, mainly from the neighborhood. And all the filmmakers were from the neighborhood (wherever possible, contact info will be included):
- Asian Mainstream Productions
- Marie Chou
- Sanelle Sibanda (name misspelled in the credits – sorry! Didn’t figure it out until now)
- Dustin Magidson (you can see the short film he showed that night here. He was also awesome on tech that night!)
- Amy Covell (The producer of two films at the Festival, she is also a model and actress.)
- Red Suspender Films
- Miranda and Woody LaBounty
- Jane Anfinson, and, of course,
- foolish tree films!!! (Click to see the “Victorian Thriller,” shown at the festival, and the behind-the-scenes film of the shooting of the “Victorian Thriller,” entitled “Under the Headstone.” You can also find us on facebook.)
Thanks for watching, everyone!
Best,
Ian & Jo
Closing credit music: “I Believe in a Thing Called Love,” by The Darkness.
Shot on an Aiptek Action HD camera — not our pro cameras. Sorry about the sound – it’s cheap and I was trying it out as a small portable “shoot anything” kind of camera (and it was giving me all sorts of codec problems). We’ve already upgraded!
Recently, foolish tree films accompanied Bill and Barb Nemoyten – The Hornman and Crew – in their motor home, “Dreamcatcher,” up to Weott, CA, for a couple of shows. We got some great footage of The Hornman working his magic, and some wonderful location shots of the magic of the redwoods. Enjoy!
Filmed in High Definition
One of the main projects for 2010 is going to be getting a full length documentary made about Bill Nemoyten, The Hornman. His life is a testament to the power of music and the arts to transform lives for generations. He also happens to be our Jo’s dad (Jo is our CEO and co-owner). For his 80th birthday, she gathered some of his stories into a book and Ian (our Chief Filmmaker and co-owner) made this short film about his life.
If you are interested in investing in The Hornman Documentary Project, please contact us.
Shot in Standard Definition, 8 mm and Super 8
Composer, conductor, writer and Hornman, Bill Nemoyten, conducts the Golden Gate Park Band in the first movement of his Cuyahoga Valley Suite. The Suite was written 50 years ago in honor of the beauty and history of that area of Ohio.
This is a playlist which will play all 3 movements automatically.
- 1st Movement: The Ancient Valley
- 2nd Movement: Songs for the Vanished Tribe
- 3rd Movement: River Bridges March

This wonderful celebration took place at Enrico’s in San Francisco. It honored David Nemoyten, aka Mad Magda, aka Lucien Stern. He had family there as well as friends spanning 30 years. Veronica Klaus is his good friend and she sang as usual on a Tuesday night. And David’s dad and brother really blew their horns!
